AEW have finally announced the start of AEW: Collision, a show that’s been rumoured for some time.

Just a few short minutes ago, All Elite Wrestling officially announced that AEW: Collision will become a staple of their weekly schedule, with the debut show falling on June 17.

Their press release stated that the show will be two hours long and will air on TNT, the same network which used to broadcast WCW programming. It’s evident that AEW have taken some inspiration from Ted Tuner’s company as the similarities in presentation are already there to be seen. For example, Collision seems to have a similar logo design and colour scheme to that of WCW Monday Nitro.

Interestingly, the statement also reveals some potential talent which will be appearing for AEW on a Saturday night. Names such as Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs look as if they will be prominent on the show, but it may jump out to fans that recent returnees to the company Miro and Thunder Rosa are listed as set for Collision, with the pair just re-emerging on AEW TV last week. Also, Andrade El Idolo hasn’t competed for AEW in over seven months and was controversially involved in a backstage confrontation, yet, the Mexican is specified as a part of Collision.

As mentioned, the first Collision show is set to be on June 17, with tyis being the likely return place for CM Punk. Reports have indicated that the debut event will be titled ‘The Second Coming’ due to the return of the Chicagoan, who has been absent since September 4.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any updates on AEW: Collision and its debut show as we hear more.
