Former NXT Tag Team Champions Akam & Rezar, collectively known as the Authors of Pain, have been absent from in-ring action since their release in September 2020.
The duo were an immensely popular act on the black and gold brand alongside manager Paul Ellering, however the absence of their former manager accompanied by a number of injury issues derailed the duo from picking up the same success on the main roster, and unfortunately it never quite worked out for AOP following their call up.
The duo have now been inactive for over two years, with some promoters even reportedly being told that the team had retired. A recent report from Fightful Select however may indicate otherwise.
Fightful are now reporting that the Authors of Pain are now planning a return to the ring, potentially putting an end to their lengthy absence.
Nothing more is currently known regarding a potential landing spot for the duo, but there will likely be no shortage of suitors for what looked like one of the most promising tag-teams within WWE before their departure.
We look forward to seeing what the future holds for the AOP, and hope that the duo can pick up where they left as an imposing powerhouse duo wherever they eventually land.
