Backstage Belief Bayley Has Wrestled Her Last Match At Madison Square Garden

Some in WWE believe Bayley’s last match at Madison Square Garden has taken place.

Free agent season may be going on right now in the wrestling world, but many eyes are still on certain contracted wrestlers who may be making moves soon. One such name who fans believe may be preparing for life elsewhere is Bayley, with rumours that she’s on her way out of WWE only exacerbated when she took a decisive submission loss to Lyra Valkyria at this past weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event. With some online thinking this could’ve been the company’s way of writing her off, it now seems as if some within WWE think she may have wrestled her last match at Madison Square Garden.

According to Dave Meltzer the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed there was talk backstage that Bayley may have performed for the final time at “The World’s Most Famous Arena”.

“One person did note to us before the show that there was talk backstage that this would be Bayley’s last match in Madison Square Garden.”

If the source is to be believed, that would indicate that many in WWE may well expect her to leave when her contract ends later this year. Plus, ahead of the SummerSlam tryouts, Bayley was advertised as one of the stars in attendance, yet, as noted by Wrestling Observer, this was changed to Ivy Nile not long after it went up. For now, whether Bayley re-signs with WWE in the near future remains to be seen.

Of course, should she decide to exit the company, AEW would be her likely destination. As such, it’s worth noting that the speculation regarding MSG in particular is largely down to WWE’s connection with the historic venue making it improbable that the arena would opt to host another wrestling promotion.

In fact, it’s widely believed WWE may attempts to get Madison Square Garden to pull out of its agreement with both NJPW and ROH prior to their ‘G1 SuperCard’ show at the venue in 2019, although the show did go ahead as planned.

Yet, in May, AEW talent MJF and Anthony Bowens addressed the possibility of Tony Khan one day running the famous arena in future. While discussing the topic, the former member of ‘The Acclaimed’ stated his belief that the promotion would sell out MSG. You can read more on that here.
