This past Saturday we witnessed the first WWE Premium Live Event of a new regime and reportedly a huge Summer Slam moment involving Becky Lynch wouldn’t have happened if Vince McMahon was still in charge.

The opening of Summer Slam saw Bianca Belair retain the Raw Women’s Championship over Becky Lynch where the two shared a moment of respect after that match but as Bianca was celebrating she was interrupted Bayley, Dakota Kai & Iyo Skye (fka Io Shirai).

The trio confronted Bianca in the ring three-on-one before Becky Lynch got back in the ring at Bianca’s side, cementing a face turn in the process.

Fightful had reported that Vince McMahon rejected the idea of a Bayley, Dakota Kai & Iyo Skye faction months ago but that’s not the only part of the story.

According to Wade Kaller of PWTorch, Vince McMahon wouldn’t have turned Becky Lynch

“I can now confirm Becky was not gonna turn if Vince McMahon was still in control. That was a Paul Levesque call. I just got confirmation on that. She would have been a heel as we’re talking right now if McMahon was still running things. So, one big change early on there.”

– Wade Keller

While Becky Lynch turning heel last year was originally an idea of her own, fans had assumed she would turn face because of her popularity and like ability factor.

With Becky Lynch turning face this now sets up a possible match up down the road with Ronda Rousey who recently turned heel at Summer Slam. If WWE still wants a match between the two Wrestlemania 39 sounds like the perfect place to do it.
