Carmelo Hayes Discusses Missing WrestleMania 42

Carmelo Hayes has addressed missing this year’s WWE WrestleMania.
During the March 27 edition of WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn defeated Carmelo Hayes to capture the WWE United States Championship, thus ensuring his spot on this year’s WrestleMania 42 card whilst Hayes looks set to miss out on what would have been his WrestleMania debut.
Speaking to Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson on Nightcap, Carmelo Hayes was asked about handling any frustration over not making this year’s WrestleMania 42 card.
“I feel like it’s staying ready and just knowing I’m talented enough. If they give me the ball, it’s guaranteed. I think that’s really what my mentality has always been. You ever heard that phrase, ‘Success is not earned, it’s given?’ I feel like that’s a lot with WWE. Anybody really, it’s like, until they give you the ball, how will they know if you can score? Until they put you on the field, how do they know if you can make a play? I think that’s really what it comes down to with what we do is waiting for the ball, or waiting for them to put you in.”

After capturing the WWE United States Championship from Carmelo Hayes last month, Sami Zayn is set to defend the title against Trick Williams on Night Two of WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium on April 19.
Last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown saw Carmelo Hayes tell Trick Williams that he has to rehab his knee, but hopes that Williams is able to capture the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 42 so that he can take it from him.
