CM Punk has been absent from All Elite Wrestling altogether since he recaptured the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, at the company’s annual All Out PPV. Whilst Punk would’ve likely been absent from in-ring regardless due to sustaining an injury, he’s been prevented from appearing in any capacity due to receiving a suspension for his involvement in the infamous ‘Brawl Out’ incident that also saw The Elite suspended, whilst Ace Steel was fired outright.

Since the incident, The Elite have returned to television and are currently in the midst of a best-of-seven series with Death Triangle for the AEW Trios Championships, however the same can’t be said for CM Punk, whose future has appeared uncertain since September 4th.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an insight into the AEW locker room’s thoughts on a potential CM Punk return, revealing that Chris Jericho, amongst others, is set on making sure it isn’t allowed to happen.

“Several of the top guys, Chris Jericho being among them, told the rest of the locker room that they’d make sure Punk wasn’t brought back.”

Punk recently made headlines by replying “Duh.” to an Instagram post quoting Dax Harwood pleading for Punk and The Elite to work together once again, prompting speculation that a return to the company was more likely than we thought, however, this report seems to cast further doubt over Punk’s future with AEW.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any updates on the future of CM Punk in regards to AEW and his pro-wrestling career as a whole as soon as we hear more.
