Claudio Castagnoli Comments On Will Ospreay Joining The Death Riders

Claudio Castagnoli has discussed the Death Riders adding Will Ospreay to their ranks.

On July 1, Will Ospreay officially joined the Death Riders after receiving a patch from Jon Moxley featuring the group’s logo. This came just days after ‘The Aerial Assassin’ defeated Swerve Strickland at AEW Forbidden Door to win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, securing his spot in the main event of All In at Wembley Stadium to fight for the AEW Men’s World Championship. Now, Claudio Castagnoli has discussed the Brit’s inclusion in the faction.

In a chat with SoundSphere Magazine, Castagnoli noted that, in his mind, it’s all about taking who the Aerial Assassin has always been and just making him even better.

“It was always about getting Will to that next level. It was never about changing Will. He was already great. More tools in his arsenal to succeed.”

Since his on-screen training with the Death Riders began, many have noticed a more aggressive version of Will in the ring, highlighted by the different in-ring moves he’s added to his repertoire, including having a brand-new armbar-style submission called “Death Ground.”

Whether having more tools will help him succeed against Kenny Omega at Wembley remains to be seen. With just over a month until the AEW’s return to London’s capital, viewers will be keeping a keen eye on Will Ospreay’s association with Jon Moxley and the rest of the Death Riders, particularly when it comes to what it means for his relationship with Callum Newman and United Empire over in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
