Current AEW World Champion, CM Punk last wrestled for AEW at the Kia Forum in the company’s Los Angeles debut. He teamed up with FTR to take down Max Caster and the Gunn Club. However, the Second City Saint sustained a nasty foot injury causing him to step away from action for a considerable amount of time.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider provided an update on the AEW world champion’s injury, citing the champion’s own words during the San Diego Comic Con, where he stated that his foot is still healing after getting “shattered”. Mike then noted that a source working backstage at the Comic Con revealed CM Punk was struggling to move around and had to apply ice to his foot at regular intervals. The report also stated that the backstage source noted that it was obvious how much pain CM Punk was in.

CM Punk had just lifted his first world title in over seven years at Double or Nothing, making the injury that much more cruel. While fans were robbed of a historic clash between him and Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door, we can look forward to a monumental unification match between him and Jon Moxley once the Voice of the Voiceless returns.
