CM Punk’s AEW status has been unclear for a few weeks following all the drama after AEW’s All Out PPV. Now a new report has came out suggesting that CM Punk may be done with the company.

Tension was at an all-time high backstage at AEW following All Out & CM Punk very heated comments at the post-show Media Scrum. There was a physical altercation between CM Punk, Ace Steel & members of The Elite which led to both Punk and The Elite to be suspended and all their respective titles vacated.

CM Punk also sustained an injury at All Out expected to keep him out of the ring for up to eight months regardless of what happens contractually.

Punk’s comments sent a ripple through the AEW roster with many not knowing how he could come back after his rant. Nobody involved in the brawl has been directly mentioned on TV since with Punk and The Elite edited out of video packages and the opening show titles following the drama. This was evident once again on last night’s AEW Dynamite when Ian Riccaboni didn’t mention Punk in his list of top names who have held the ROH World Title. This may feel small but Wade Keller stated on a PWTorch audio show that he believes the omission is significant.

“I think this is noteworthy but not surprising [that] he excluded CM Punk’s name as he talked about some of the biggest names who have held the title. That’s a bit of a tell. As I talked with Jason Powell yesterday about – I am not expecting CM Punk to wrestle in AEW again. I’m not saying it’s 100 percent sure thing but everything is pointing in the direction of some sort of buyout of his contract. We’ll learn more eventually about that situation.”

– Wade Keller

It’s interesting that he suggests a buy out of Punk’s contract, as the straight edge superstar only returned to wrestling one year ago so likely has plenty of time left on the deal that he signed.
