‘The Scottish Warrior’ is expected to stay put.

For the past few months, speculation has been rampant regarding the future of former WWE Champion Drew Mclntyre, with multiple reports noting that his current deal with WWE is set to expire at some point soon after WrestleMania, with their currently being no indication that he’s close to putting pen to paper.

This may be about to change, however, as in todays edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that the expectation within the company is that McIntyre will re-sign.

“I don’t expect him to go and surely wouldn’t recommend him to do so now as the taking time off and going back to Scotland that he was legit contemplating would probably be better at least business-wise at another point. But once his new character clicked and more, the company booked him like it clicked, I thought the odds were strong he’d be staying. I know the expectation in the company is he’s signing a new deal and the feeling he knows given everything staying is the best thing for his career now.”

McIntyre is set to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship during Night 2 of WrestleMania 40 next weekend, with CM Punk expected to be involved in the match in some capacity.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Drew Mclntyre as soon as we hear more.
