With 2022 nearing it’s end, one duo that can undoubtably throw their name into the hat for tag-team of the year is Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR. The pair currently hold the ROH, IWGP, and AAA Tag Team Championships, and have been a part of some of the most exciting tag-team bouts of the year with the likes of Aussie Open and The Briscoes.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently spoke with FTR’s Dax Harwood, who revealed that the pair’s AEW contracts are set to expire in late April of next year. Whilst speculation is likely to rampant over whether the pair will remain with the company or head back to WWE, Harwood suggested that the next chapter for FTR may involve neither promotion.

“Dax Harwood claimed to Fightful that he’s under the belief his current AEW contract ends at the end of April, and they originally actually thought they’d be up last year. However, he says he’s evaluating options and says that he and Cash have had a lot of conversations about their future. One particular idea they’ve mentioned is that they could take a year off of wrestling for major companies and just do things that are fun to them.”

Harwood additionally noted that having the opportunity to work with more independent promotions led them to discovering how much they both love those unique environments, and thus they may choose to continue predominantly working across various promotions.

Another interesting point touched on by Harwood was his love for pro-wrestling. The 38 year-old’s passion for the business is no secret, although he does occasionally worry that this passion is misconstrued by his detractors.

Harwood is set to take on the Blackpool Combat Club’s Bryan Danielson during tomorrow night’s edition of AEW Dynamite in a match that is sure to further add to an already impressive year for the tag-team star.
