Former AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page has suffered an injury at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.
The injury happened during the main event for the AEW World Championship between Hangman & Jon Moxley. Hangman was hit with a lariat, lands awkwardly and doesn’t move much at all afterwards, he is swiftly checked on by the Referee & AEW Doctors, then the match was swiftly stopped.
Whilst Hangman was being attended to, the AEW commentary did the best they could to handle the situation. Eventually Moxley got a microphone and sincerely wished Hangman was okay & cut a promo on MJF, calling him out right there and then with a few minutes left in the show. MJF’s music hit and he has his poker chip in one hand and is dragging a referee with him to the ring. MJF teases the match but ultimately leaves the ring and cuts a promo saying he will be challenging for the title at Full Gear. AEW did the best they could to close the show given the circumstances but it was understandably pretty hectic.
Since the show has ended, fans have uploaded videos and pictures of Hangman being attended to by doctors in the ring and also being stretchered away. In some of the videos you can see Hangman is conscious and responsive. Also some fans in attendance have said that Hangman waved to the crowd as he was stretchered off.
It has been reported by PWTorch that the injury to Hangman is legitimate and the match stoppage was not planned.
In a PWInsider update, they state that one source believes Hangman may have suffered a concussion, but that is not confirmed. Also adding that Hangman left the venue to get examined at a local hospital. But there was still no official word as of this writing.
Everyone at WrestlePurists sincerely wishes Hangman Adam Page the speediest of recoveries.
