Good ol’ JR has shared an update on his contract status.

In early August, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross’ AEW contract was due to expire in September, with JR himself also noting that time was running out on his current deal.

During the most recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast, Ross revealed that he recently spoke with AEW President Tony Khan about his contract, with it seeming as though an extension is on the horizon for the 71-year-old WWE Hall of Famer.

“Tony Khan has answered a lot of my prayers and I hope to continue working for AEW for the foreseeable future. That’s our goal, that’s Tony’s goal, that’s my goal. Tony and I had a nice chat about my contract last week at TV.”

JR has recently lent his iconic voice to AEW Collision’s main events, whilst also hosting backstage interview segments with some of the promotion’s top stars.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the contract status of Jim Ross in AEW as soon as we hear more.
