Kenny Omega may finally be returning to AEW soon after being shelved with injuries since last November.
Kenny Omega was last seen in-ring late last year at AEW’s Full Gear PPV where he dropped the AEW World title to Hangman Adam Page. Since then, Kenny Omega has been recovering from a list of injuries. Many fans had hoped Omega may have been able to make it back in time for the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV, but was unfortunately unable to make the show.
Recently, reports have started to point to Kenny Omega finally making his long awaited return soon. With extra fuel being added to the fire by AEW announcing the introduction of Trio Tag Belts. Something AEW owner, Tony Khan said he was waiting for Kenny Omega to return for.
Whilst talking on Wrestling Observer Radio about who could be facing Interim AEW Champion, Jon Moxley at AEW’s upcoming All Out PPV, Bryan Alvarez pointed to pictures that have circulated recently of CM Punk no longer wearing his walker boot, saying he presumed CM Punk would be back in time for All Out to face Mox. Dave Meltzer agreed with the presumption and talked about other AEW star’s injuries.
“Obviously it’s supposed to be him (CM Punk), I would presume so too. I would presume he’s around, I would presume (Kenny) Omega’s around… who else? Adam Cole and Kyle (O’Reilly), I don’t know when they’re going to be cleared. I haven’t heard about that, but Omega’s definitely soon. I know that this PPV is when they want him.”– Dave Meltzer
AEW has definitely been hit hard by injuries this year, especially during these recent summer months. Hopefully all wrestlers currently shelved can make their way back to the ring at 100% sooner rather than later.
