There has reportedly been at least some interest from AEW in making Athena All Elite.
Athena, formerly known as Ember Moon in WWE was released by the company back in November of last year, ever since then there has been a consistent level of interest from many wrestling fans in seeing her in AEW.
She has remained active ever since her non compete clause was up, notably facing Thunder Rosa for the Warrior Wrestling Women’s title in a great main event match.
There has now been an update on AEW’s interest in Athena courtesy of Fightful Select. The report stated that indeed there has been “at least light talks and gauging interest” between Athena & AEW, which they were told was “feeling out” process.
However, it doesn’t seem like AEW is in any rush to bring Athena in:
“People in All Elite Wrestling we spoke to claimed there didn’t seem to be a sense of urgency to lock her down. Promoters have indicated to us that Athena is very selective of her independent bookings.”– Fightful Select
The reports did also add that Athena has been very selective when it comes to taking independent bookings.
Athena fans will have to wait and see where this one goes. Athena would most likely be a great get for AEW’s women’s division, or any women’s division for that matter.
Athena will be in action this Sunday at WrestleCon taking on Mia Yim, who is also a pretty high profile talent who is a free agent currently.
