June 25 will see AEW and New Japan join forces for the next instalment of Forbidden Door, this time in Toronto. The show is a place where dream matches come to be and last year’s edition was regarded as one of the best pay-per-views of the year. Many are already speculating over which AEW and NJPW performers will pair up and battle it out this summer.

Someone who is looking forward to the crossover spectacle is Lio Rush, who was injured when the Forbidden Door debut show rolled out last year. There are many people who Rush would like to compete against but, in a new interview with MuscleManMalcolm, the star has revealed that if things had been different in regards to injury he would’ve liked to have shared the ring with Dante Martin on June 25.

“That’s a heavy question because there’s so many guys that are currently on the roster that I wanted to wrestle, but never have and was so close to wrestling. Yeah, that’s incredibly hard. I feel like me being a part of that event in itself would be pretty cool, so, who knows. Anybody, anybody really. There’s a ton of guys on that roster that I’d love to wrestle. In a perfect world, it would have been cool to wrestle Dante [Martin] but I know he just had that injury. Praying for him, huge prayers and respect to Dante, I saw that injury and it’s pretty nasty.”

Dante Martin was unfortunately injured during the ‘Reach For The Sky’ ladder match at ROH Supercard of Honor for the vacant tag titles. The injury looked serious and it remains unclear when the Top Flight member will be back in a ring.

As always, we’ll aim to update you on Forbidden Door and the plan for Lio Rush on the show as we hear more.
