Marcus Mathers Announces Departure From WWEID Program

Marcus Mathers announced on Friday that he has left the WWE ID Program.
The 23-year old posted a lengthy post on his social media where he explained that he had left the ID program, which was started back in October 2024 to serve as a pipeline for independent wrestlers to join the WWE ecosystem. Wrestlers with the ID tag were able to continue wrestling on the indie scene, but they could also work on WWE’s shows like Evolve.
In his announcement, Mathers said,
As of this week, my time with WWEID has come to an end. What an incredible two years it’s been. I’ve learned so much, gained invaluable knowledge and made friendships and memories that I’ll always cherish. I want to thank WWE for their time! Time is the most valuable thing any of us can give.
So when this chapter closed, I did what I know how to do, I kept moving. I rolled up to The Dungeon and trained with some of the hungriest people in the world. Today I got Amazing Red, Tomorrow Nick Gage, match Sunday and match Monday.
Now my next chapter awaits and it’s up to me and my hunger to take me there. I’m in the drivers seat. I’m going to show up EVERYWHERE to fight ANYONE.
After he became one of the first people signed to the program, Mathers appeared on WWE television to wrestle 16 matches. His final match was a dark match before the NXT show earlier this week against Conan Lycan, who ironically was given an ID contract following the match.
Outside the WWE world, Mathers has been busy this year. According to his Cagematch, he’s appeared in 35 promotions not named WWE from around the world, as well as some additional freelance shows. His biggest profile tour happened back in the first few months of 2026 when he wrestled for Dragongate.
Mathers’ announcement happens one day after Layne Luck confirmed that she has also left the ID program, saying that her’s wasn’t renewed.
