WWE Talent Reportedly Questioning ID Program After Recent Releases

The WWE ID Program has reportedly come under fire from those within the company itself.

When WWE created its ID Program, it was thereby to be a bridge between the indie circuit and the promotion. They also rolled out a big campaign to highlight who was getting those ID contracts. The first champions were crowned in August 2025, and it’s been going on ever since. However, it was revealed that Laynie Luck, the current WWE ID women’s champion, and indie standout Marcus Mathers have left the program, and it now seems that’s raising eyebrows within the company itself.

According to an update from Fightful Select, it’s believed the recent releases

“Laynie Luck and Marcus Mathers both announced their time with WWE ID came to an end this week. This prompted numerous WWE Superstars that we spoke to, to question the entirety of the system when one of the most notable indie talents under contract (22 year old Mathers) and the 11-month women’s champion weren’t renewed.”

It should be noted that this isn’t the first big departure from the program, nor is it the first time one of the titles has been vacated by the champion. Zayda Steel was famously a part of the program, left it to join AEW, and is now seen as one of its rising stars. Fan-favorite wrestler Kylie Rae had to vacate the women’s title due to pregnancy, and then revealed her ID contract would not be renewed not long after.

Another key point is that despite the red carpet being rolled out for the program, no notable call-ups have come through it, further raising the question of WWE ID’s point. While there is no indication that the program could dissolve, if wrestlers under contract aren’t seeing enough upward momentum, it could be the case that it wouldn’t remain an attractive prospect for new talent. Still, what the future holds for WWE ID remains to be seen.
