We have an injury update for Mark Davis following last night’s announcement.

Last night at NJPW Resurgence, Kyle Fletcher of Aussie Open made an appearance and announced that due to an injury sustained by his partner Mark Davis, the pair would be relinquishing both the IWGP and NJPW Strong Tag Team Championships.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has now provided an update on the specifics of Davis’ injury, revealing that the United Empire member recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee due to a torn meniscus.

“Mark Davis of Aussie Open had arthroscopic surgery on his knee to repair a torn meniscus. Aussie Open vacated both the New Japan Strong and IWGP Tag Team titles because they would be unable to make their already advertised defense at the June 4 Dominion show in Osaka.”

Both titles are now set to be up for grabs at Dominion on June 4th, as EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi of House of Torture will take on Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) in what was originally scheduled as a triple threat tag match.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Mark Davis’ injury status, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
