Maya World Reportedly Out Of Action After Medical Procedure, Expected To Return Soon

Maya World had to undergo a medical procedure recently and will be out of action as a result.

2026 has been a stellar year in the career of Maya World. Having inked a deal with AEW last December, she’s quickly risen through the ranks, winning the TBS Championship on July 26 at the Redemption pay-per-view. However, despite her recent momentum, it now seems World is set for a spell on the sidelines.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Maya World will be sidelined after receiving medical treatment last week.

“Fightful Select has learned that the former AEW TBS Champion is out of action and had to undergo a procedure over the last week. The details of the procedure aren’t public, but we’re told that the hope and expectation is that she will be able to return to action soon.”

Maya held the TBS Championship for 35 days before losing to Persephone on the All In: London’s Buy In. Most recently, she competed on the “Rebel Heart” edition of Dynamite, teaming with Hyan and Thunder Rosa to battle Hikaru Shida, Persephone and Britt Baker, although she came out on the losing side. As of writing, it’s unclear how long World will be out of action.

The only good news about this situation is that she did not have the TBS Title on her when this procedure happened, and thus, didn’t need to relinquish it as Willow Nightingale did earlier in the year. Plus, current champion Persephone has had her eyes on Thunder Rosa in recent weeks, so that feud can go on until Maya comes back and challenges again for her title, especially since she has a new beef going on with the returning Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.
