Speculation was rife in the build-up to last night’s Double or Nothing PPV, with MJF no-showing a meet and greet and then reportedly having a flight booked in his name out of Las Vegas.

Ultimately, MJF did appear on last night’s show, opening the show with an emphatic defeat to Wardlow before being stretchered out to the back.

During the post-show media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan refused to comment on the situation, although an update has since been provided on the situation via PWInsider.

“MJF arrived at the venue for the PPV tonight at what was described to PWInsider at “the last minute” and left the venue right after his match.”

Various sources were unable to confirm whether MJF was present in the T-Mobile Arena even shortly before the start of Double or Nothing, lending credence to PWInsider’s report that MJF left it as late as possible to arrive.

PWInsider also commented on when we may see MJF next, noting that he is expected to not be on the road at least for the next several TV tapings, with the possibility of an extended absence.

MJF in the past has made no secret over his desires to better the terms on his contact, with his current deal set to expirein 2024. He has himself admitted that he’ll be considering his options when the time comes, and thus these ongoing disputes potentially indicate that MJF may have one eye on the exit door already.
