MJF says AEW fans shouldn’t talk down about WWE.

These days, tribalism runs rampant among wrestling fans on social media. While it’s natural to prefer one company’s style over another, many online often choose besmirch the promotion they see as the competition to their favourite. However, a former AEW World Champion has now stated his belief that fans of All Elite Wrestling don’t need to try to tear down WWE.

Talking on the Sports Media Podcast, MJF said AEW fans shouldn’t sh*t on WWE.

“If you like AEW more than WWE, and there are a lot of people that feel that way, that doesn’t mean you have to shit on WWE. You don’t need to make thinkpieces online about why WWE sucks. Make thinkpieces about why AEW is better. Whatever those logical reasons are. Whether it’s because you get more bang for buck on pay-per-views or because our matches are better or because our rivalries are better or because MJF is better looking than any top guy in any promotion. There are so many different things, but that doesn’t mean you have to attack the other side. Just put your side over,”

Regardless, tribalism is part and parcel of social media, with many people being extremely passionate both towards their preferred company and against the other. However, with a lot of wrestlers choosing to make the move from AEW to WWE or vice versa, it’s worth noting that the mentality of a portion of viewers online doesn’t translate to the talent themselves.

As for MJF, he’ll next appear as part of the Casino Gauntlet at All In: London. Despite still proclaiming to be the one true champion of the company, the star will attempt to win a future opportunity at the AEW World Title when he enters the match second this Sunday.
