AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa successfully defended her title against Serena Deeb on this past Sunday’s Double or Nothing PPV, although the champion was absent from the following episode of Dynamite.

This prompted a report from WhatCulture revealing frustrations on the part of Rosa regarding the booking of the AEW Women’s Championship division, although PWInsider confirmed shortly after that her absence was related to an illness.

Fightful Select have now provided another update on Thunder Rosa, corroborating PWInsider’s report and confirming that the champion is currently sidelined with an illness.

They then touched upon the report from WhatCulture, confirming that Rosa is in fact frustrated with her booking as AEW Women’s Champion, although then then revealed that Rosa was scheduled for this week’s Dynamite before being removed due to illness.

“We’re told that completely separate of the situation where she was under the weather, there was no plan for her to appear live on the Los Angeles Dynamite. Instead, she was booked for a backstage segment.”

An interesting note from Fightful’s recent report seemingly indicates that AEW are planning on utilising the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Championship won by Britt Baker as a title of its own, with Rosa’s frustrations reportedly stemming from her own title taking a backseat to the two other women’s titles.

“Sources we’ve spoken to said that they feel like the primary women’s title has taken a backseat to two other women’s title belts on the show. She is also not scheduled for tonight’s AEW Rampage in Ontario, California for the same illness.”

There is currently no time frame on the return of Thunder Rosa, although we can’t imagine she’ll be absent from TV for long. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Thunder Rosa, and hope that her reign her can allow her to fully display how talented of a performer she is.
