WWE’s President has weighed in on the prospect of CM Punk returning to the company.

On September 2nd, earlier this month, AEW officially announced that the contract of CM Punk had been terminated for just cause under the unanimous recommendation of the AEW discipline committee, as well as outside legal counsel. With the former AEW World Champion now officially a free agent, fans have naturally begun to speculate that a shocking return to WWE could be on the cards.

During a recent interview with ESPN regarding the WWE-Endeavor deal, WWE President Nick Khan was asked whether the company would be interested in CM Punk returning to WWE, and whilst Khan did state that the company respect Punk, he didn’t offer much of a definite answer.

“Listen, we only have respect for Phil. We appreciate his run here. We appreciate what he did and tried to do with the UFC. Not many people can actually get in there and do what he did. So, when we have respect for Phil, we wish him nothing but the best.”

Following the aforementioned merger between WWE and Endeavor, Nick Khan retained his position as WWE President whilst also gaining a position as a member of TKO’s Board of directors.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of CM Punk following his AEW exit as soon as we hear more.
