A major in-ring return could be on the horizon if reports are to be believed.
Over the past few years, several wrestlers previously believed to be medically retired have made miraculous in-ring returns, including the likes of Edge, Bryan Danielson, Katsuyori Shibata, and Saraya. It now appears as though yet name could be joining that list, with the report coming at a very interesting time considering AEW’s UK debut being on the horizon.
Fightful Select are now reporting that former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness has been taking measures to prepare for a possible in-ring return, although it’s worth noting that Fightful have yet to hear that 47-year-old has been officially cleared.
“Sources have confirmed to Fightful

World Champion has been taking
measures to try to return to the ring
We’ve not been told definitively that
McGuinness has been cleared for
a return, but that he’d been taking

considering a return to the ring.”
McGuinness, who currently serves as one-half of AEW Collision’s commentary team, last competed in December 2011, with the British wrestling legend having announced his retirement due to a battle with Hepatitis B and a series of concussions.
The report also noted that McGuinness had been brought up as a potential competitor for AEW All In, the company’s UK debut at the historic Wembley Stadium on August 27th. Despite this, Fightful have yet to confirm whether any concrete plans are in place for his return or if the return has been seriously discussed by AEW.
Since joining AEW in April earlier this year, McGuiness has frequently teased an in-ring return, and with All In on the horizon, these teasers have only become more frequent.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Nigel McGuinness potentially returning to the ring as soon as we hear more.
