Will Ospreay’s next move could be revealed very soon if reports are to be believed.
With AEW Full Gear just a day away, anticipation is building following Tony Khan’s announcement that “one of the world’s best wrestlers” will be signing their AEW contract during the show. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast recently reported that he’s been told the signing in question is Will Ospreay, and we now have additional insight into his contract situation with NJPW.
PWInsider are now reporting that New Japan Pro Wrestling have given Ospreay their blessing to explore discussions with other companies, thus explaining Barry Bloom’s recent hiring as he leads negotiations for the United Empire leader.
“PWInsider.com can confirm that sources have indicated that Ospreay has already received the blessing of NJPW to explore discussions with other companies. This is why Barry Bloom was hired to handle Ospreay’s conversations a few months back.”

The report also noted that Ospreay’s NJPW contract is currently set to expire in February 2024. Ospreay is scheduled to take on both David Finlay and Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4th for a yet-to-be-revealed championship, a match that could end up being one of Ospreay’s final bouts in Japan as a contracted NJPW talent.
Additionally, PWInsider revealed that multiple promotions, with at least three being confirmed themselves, hold an interest in signing Ospreay and have reached out with offers. Thus far, alongside AEW, both WWE and IMPACT/TNA have been mentioned as promotions with interest in the 30-year-old.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Will Ospreay’s contract situation with NJPW, as well as the potential for him to be revealed as a new AEW signing tomorrow night, as soon as we hear more.
