The Rock is reportedly keen on wrestling Cody Rhodes at next year’s WrestleMania.

When The Rock returned to WWE in February, many were worried that he’d be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, following the ‘Mania kickoff press conference that saw ‘The Great One’ turn heel and align with ‘The Tribal Chief’, viewers have loved his interactions with Cody Rhodes. ‘The American Nightmare’ and ‘The Final Boss’ shared many segments in the lead up to WrestleMania and their night one tag match which led into Rhodes’ emotional title win, and it seems as if the story between Rock and Cody may not be over.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that there is no planned date for Rock’s next match, but talk has already started regarding next year’s ‘Mania. It’s unknown as to whether ‘The Final Boss’ will wrestle again this year, but, when it comes to 2025’s ‘Show of Shows’, it’s noted that Rock prefers to work with Cody Rhodes over Roman Reigns.

“There is no planned date for Rock to return for a match, but it’s been talked about next year’s Mania. Originally he wanted to come back and work with Reigns, but obviously based on everything that went down, the singles title match with Rhodes is the bigger match right now. As things stand right now, he may work a match later this year but that is not a lock. He would prefer to work with Rhodes in the main event of next year’s Mania.”

Of course, lots can change regarding Rock’s schedule, but many fans will be encouraged by the suggestion of a potential one-on-one match between the pair. For now, though, Cody Rhodes will be focused on the start of his reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on The Rock’s next WWE match as soon as we hear more.
