Ric Flair Says He Wouldn’t Be Surprised To See Tony Khan Buy WWE

Ric Flair believes that Tony Khan could one day purchase WWE.
On March 19, Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling revealed that Base 10, a company backed by Tony Khan, placed a bid on WWE when it was up for sale in 2023, according to court filings. Khan later confirmed that he did place the bid during the AEW Dynasty Media Call earlier this month.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani in a new interview, Ric Flair had nothing but praise for Tony Khan and claimed that he would not be surprised if he ended up purchasing WWE one day.
“Tony Khan is one of the greatest people I’ve ever met in my life. And you know what? I wouldn’t be surprised, because he has the money to do it, if he doesn’t buy WWE one day. The Khan family’s got more money than God. That $9 billion price on the WWE is nothing to Shad Khan.”
When asked about the bid during the aforementioned AEW Dynasty Media Call, Tony Khan noted that, while he was focused on the pursuit of free agents such as Kazuchika Okada, Mercedes Moné, and Will Ospreay at the time, he was cognisant that there was a bidding process and believed it would have been a missed opportunity not to at least attempt to be involved.
Tony Khan also claimed that the bid was very close to the stock market price because he had no more information than the public and no access to a data room, unlike his competition, who therefore progressed further in the bidding process.
Elsewhere during the interview, Ric Flair revealed that he was not invited to WrestleMania 42 because he threatened Ludwig Kaiser last year. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Tony Khan’s bid to purchase WWE back in 2023 as soon as we hear more.
