With WWE’s Wrestlemania Backlash fast approaching, the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has yet to be officially announced in any capacity for the show.

Many had speculated that a potential injury suffered at Wrestlemania 38 would keep the ‘Tribal Cheif’ off the upcoming premium live event, with a lack of angles being shot involving Reigns in the build up to the show so far.

This may not be the case however, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently revealed that Reigns is still scheduled to be in the main event of the show, with WWE presumably beginning the build to whatever they have planned with him on this Friday’s edition of Smackdown.

“The Roman Reigns thing we were talking a couple of days ago about, since they haven’t shot any angle with him maybe they’re doing a pay-per-view without him and that is not the case. He is in fact in the main event and I presume they will shoot the angle on Friday,”

As far as potential opponents go for Reigns, Shinsuke Nakamura stands out as one superstar with unfinished business with The Bloodline. The ‘King of Strong Style’ confronted the group on the Smackdown following Wrestlemania 38, due to the injury suffered to his tag-team partner Rick Boogs. This led to the Usos attacking Nakamura at Reigns’ behest.

As of writing, four matches have been announced for Wrestlemania Backlash, taking place in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday 8th of May. Three of the four announced matches thus far are Wrestlemania 38 rematches.

We look forward to seeing what’s next for the ‘Head of the Table’, with Reigns having been a top champion in WWE since Payback 2020, and now stands head and shoulders above the competition as an Undisputed Champion.
