AEW’s Sammy Guevara has reportedly suffered a neck and shoulder injury.

Sammy Guevara has recent undergone a character change, turning heel when he hit a low blow on Scorpio Sky to win the TNT Championship. In their rematch, in a ladder match, Sammy Guevara went for a crazy spot off the ladder and he landed very awkwardly. Reportedly this is where Guevara was hurt.

The news comes from Dave Meltzer in this weeks edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, also noting that it was left shoulder and neck that Guevara hurt.

Sammy Guevara was injured on 4/27 in the ladder match where he lost the TNT title to Scorpio Sky. It was a few minutes into the match when he climbed to nearly the top of a ladder and came off with an attempt at a 630 bodyblock and the speed he came down was so fast that Sky couldn’t break his fall and he landed on his neck and his left shoulder. He said he was okay but hurt his neck and his back.

Meltzer also added that there has been no word on how severe the injury may be.

No word on severity past Guevara saying he will be okay

Regarding Guevara’s upcoming AAA booking, Meltzer had this to note

With Guevara suffering neck and shoulder injuries during his ladder match with Scorpio Sky, it’s not clear what will happen here. I would have expected a title change. Guevara has confirmed he will be in Monterrey but what he’ll be able to do a this point is unclear

Hopefully the injury isn’t anything too severe and fans can look forward to him competing in the ring again sooner rather than later. It is an especially unfortunate time for Sammy to potentially not be able to compete because as we mentioned earlier, he is currently going through significant character changes as he is newly a heel.
