AEW’s Santana is seemingly nearing a return to the ring.

Santana has been absent from in-ring action for almost an entire year, with the tag team specialist suffering a knee injury during a Blood and Guts match with the Jericho Appreciation Society on June 6th, 2022.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now provided an update on Santana’s injury status, noting that he’s expected to return to action soon, although with multiple reports of a falling out between Santana and his Proud & Powerful teammate Ortiz, its unclear as to where he’ll fit on the roster upon making his comeback.

“Santana is going to be ready to return soon. Not sure where he’ll fit in since he and Ortiz had a falling out. They are better off as a team than singles and Ortiz hasn’t done much since Santana was gone.”

As mentioned by Meltzer, Ortiz has infrequently featured for All Elite Wrestling this year thus far, having just two matches for the promotion across both Dynamite and Rampage, with an additional singles loss to Brian Cage taking place in Ring of Honor.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Santana’s injury status, as well as the potential for a Proud & Powerful reunion, as soon as we hear more.
