On the April 24th edition of Monday Night Raw, Triple H unveiled the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, with the title to serve as the red brand’s top prize whilst Roman Reigns continues his historic run as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion on Smackdown.

With the WWE Draft having been finalised last night, contenders for Raw’s new top championship are now lining up, one of these being the LWO’s Santos Escobar. Speaking to Phil Strum on Under The Ring, Escobar stated that he feels as though he’s ready to become the inaugural WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

“I just saw Triple H announce a new championship. I feel ready for that. That’s how high my note is right now,”

WWE are set to crown the first World Heavyweight Champion on May 27th at Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With the event replacing the originally scheduled King & Queen of the Ring show, their is expected to be a tournament to decide who makes to the Jeddah Super Dome later this month.

Alongside Escobar, a number of other top Raw stars have already thrown their name into the mix regarding the new title, including the likes of Seth Rollins and the recently returned Shinsuke Nakamura.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the plans for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as soon as we hear more.
