Backstage reaction to the WWE Raw segment with CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre has reportedly been revealed.
This past Monday on Raw saw CM Punk make his first appearance on the flagship show since revealing his tricep injury which has kept him out of action since the Royal Rumble. Many wondered what his role would be on the March 25 event, but, when it came down to it, he became embroiled in a war of words also involving Drew McIntyre and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
The segment felt very different to what fans would usually see on Raw, and PWInsider Elite are reporting that a large portion of it was improvised. Of course, the three men knew the general direction of the segment, but it’s stated that the stars were left to play off of each other.
“The entire segment was very much improvised and off the cuff, PWInsiderElite.com was told. There was a general idea of where they would finish up, getting over the idea of CM Punk as the guest color commentator for the World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania, but beyond that, it was very much left up to the talents to play off each other.”

In one particular moment, Punk fires back at Drew McIntyre discussing his previous nickname of ‘The Chosen One’ by asking the Scotsman to give the name of the person who afforded him the name, making an reference to Vince McMahon. On this, there was reportedly a ‘hush’ backstage but nothing more in response to the allude to McMahon.
“There was a hush backstage when CM Punk made allusions to Vince McMahon making Drew Mcintyre “The Chosen One” but once they got past that moment, there was no tallout for the reference.”

It’s noted that the promo went way over its allotted time, resulting in following segments for the show having to be cut down, but the portion featuring Punk returned the highest viewership of the episode.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the backstage reaction to the March 25 edition of Raw as soon as we hear more.
