The Beast and The American Nightmare look set to complete their trilogy at Summerslam according to a recent report.
Since the night after WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes has been locked in an intense feud with Brock Lesnar. To this point, the pair have done battle on two occasions, with Cody reversing a submission into a pin to claim the win at Backlash and Lesnar evening up the score when Rhodes passed out in the Kimura lock in Saudi Arabia.
With one win each, many would assume that a third showdown between The Beast and The American Nightmare isn’t too far away and this is something which has seemingly been confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer, with it being said that Summerslam at Ford Field is the set date for the 3rd match between Brock Lesnar & Cody Rhodes.
“Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes 3 is SummerSlam
“SummerSlam, Ford Field, match number 3”– Dave Meltzer
With there still being two months until WWE heads to Detroit for The Biggest Party of the Summer, fans may wonder how the company will choose to build up to a third match between Lesnar and Rhodes. Of course, July 1 will see Money in the Bank take place in London so there may be a clash of some sorts between the two at the UK show to begin to road to August 5.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any updates on Summerslam and any plans for the show as we hear more.
