Tony Khan’s latest media call garnered yet another no comment on CM Punk’s current status with All Elite Wrestling.
CM Punk has not been seen or mentioned on AEW TV since his reported backstage altercation with The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks).
On the recent Full Gear media call, Tony Khan noted he had no bad things to say about CM Punk’s on-screen contributions in AEW despite refusing to comment on Punk’s current status with AEW, stating:
“I can’t comment on that. I have nothing but positive things to say about the contributions CM Punk has made in AEW on screen and I certainly have a lot of positive things to say about the things he did in AEW to date, but I do understand why you’d ask and I appreciate you asking.”
When Tony Khan was asked if he knew ahead of time that Punk was going to go on a rant, Khan said he had no clue about Punk’s intentions stating:
“You were, I don’t wanna comment beyond this but you were sitting five feet and I did not know… No I did not know [that Punk was going to go on a rant], but I will not comment beyond that except to say I had Keith and Swerve coming up right after that and I had Toni Storm after that and I had important stuff to talk to them about.”
Tony Khan went on to say he was eager to to talk to Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland during the All Out media call to set up what would eventually be the rematch between Swerve In Our Glory and The Acclaimed for the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Dynamite: Grand Slam on September 22.
Later on the call, Tony Khan talked about why the Northeast and why AEW frequently visits the area for shows. Tony Khan also went on to issue another no comment on the status of the investigation into CM Punk’s reported backstage brawl with The Elite during the call.
