Tony Khan Hails Kenny Omega’s AEW World Title Win As A ‘Miracle’

Tony Khan is delighted to see Kenny Omega with the AEW World Title after his diverticulitis scare.

Currently, Kenny Omega is enjoying his second reign as AEW Men’s World Champion, having won the gold at the “Beach Break” edition of Dynamite two weeks ago. However, given his very public recovery from Diverticulitis which kept him out of the ring for over a year, fans are aware that “The Cleaner” was almost unable to return to competition at all, making his recapture of the world title even more impressive. Now, Tony Khan has taken the chance to reflect on reflect on Omega’s journey back to the top.

During the AEW Redemption Media Call, Khan was more than happy to heap praise onto Kenny both for his newest accolade and the fact that he was able to recover from a near-fatal condition:

“I think that Kenny is in phenomenal condition, and Kenny’s excellence and his endurance are a miracle because what he went through was a medical emergency, and it’s something that had the potential to end his career and potentially end his life. So for Kenny to be at the top of the profession, to be the greatest wrestler in the sport, and still on top, it’s very special. And I think all of us are very happy about it, but we’re also celebrating Kenny being at the top and appreciating it, savoring it, because there was a time when we were concerned Kenny might not be able to get back in the ring, and honestly, we were much more worried about what was going to happen. Outside of the ring, there were concerns about Kenny’s wellbeing that far outweighed the sporting aspect of it. But it’s so exciting that he’s survived and thrived, and that he has made this incredible comeback. In sports we love comebacks, and in pro wrestling, it’s so special when somebody can overcome significant adversity to rise back to the top of the sport. And in Kenny’s case, he’s one of, in my personal opinion, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and somebody that I looked up to and admired long before I worked with him in AEW as one of the most important figures in this sport. And to have Kenny back on top as the AEW World Champion now in 2026. It’s so special for so many reasons, and I think all of us in AEW are savoring it very much and looking forward to Kenny Omega defending the AEW World Championship this Sunday in his home country at AEW Redemption, which is something very special for all of us, and it’s a big milestone. It’s a very exciting match for many reasons, and in the case of Kenny Omega, everything Kenny Omega in wrestling is very special because we were all worried we might not see him back in wrestling, and frankly, worried we would not see him at all. So I think it’s a very happy occasion for us.”

Omega was one of the biggest reasons why All Elite Wrestling got off the ground in the first place. He was at the peak of his popularity in New Japan when he decided to make AEW with Khan, The Young Bucks, and other members of the Elite. He’s been there from Day 1, and it’s clear he wants to keep wrestling as long as possible.
