Jay White only got cleared to return to AEW this week.

At last night’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view, in the midst of Cope and Cage defending their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Dogs, Jay White made his AEW return. As the Bang Bang Gang watched on from the stage, ‘The Switchblade’ had David Finlay in his sights. After White hit a Blade Runner on ‘The Rebel’, the champions retained as fans saw White’s 15-month absence come to an end. Now, more has emerged on when he got the all clear to return.

Speaking on the Forbidden Door post-show media scrum, Tony Khan revealed Jay White had only gotten cleared in the week leading up to the show.

“Jay White actually just officially got cleared this week. This was something we were hoping he was gonna get cleared and he has just been physically cleared and it’s huge excitement. So this was something we were hoping and aiming towards, and working for, and it came out and worked perfectly.”

White’s last match came on March 15, 2025, when he took on Kevin Knight as ‘The Jet’ made his AEW debut. His hiatus was due to suffering a broken hand during the contest, while he also needed time to undergo subsequent shoulder surgery, with his fans having to wait 470 days before his eventual return.

From here, White is seemingly targeting David Finlay, the man who attacked him on his final night as a member of New Japan. With both The Dogs and the Bang Bang Gang both originating as sub-groups of Bullet Club, fans will be eagerly awaiting another clash between two of the faction’s former leaders.
