Mick Foley says Darby Allin is his AEW dream match.

Just days before last month’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view, it was announced that Mick Foley had joined AEW, beginning life by appearing as a co-host of the show. However, when he gave a rousing speech to Darby Allin and subsequently got beaten down by MJF, many wondered whether the former WWE Champion had an in-ring return in the back of his mind. Now, the 61-year-old has addressed who he’d like to face if he ever steps back between the ropes.

Speaking with Going Ringside, Foley revealed, if he was to wrestle again, he’d like to face Darby Allin.

“You know, I pointed out to Darby that I am on record of saying he would be a dream opponent, so you never know what the future may bring.nI’m down a lot of weight, but my cardio is suspect at best. And I’d still have to lose another 30 pounds just to hit poor conditions. So we’ll see if there’s some changes in the next year.”

Foley last competed as an entrant in the 2012 Royal Rumble. Unfortunately, he was medically disqualified from competing shortly afterwards, ending his 25-year career. The star would keep himself busy by taking up other opportunities, including performing as Monday Night RAW’s General Manager when the brand split returned in 2016. Though, as has been the case with many retirements throughout history, it’s difficult for performers to let go of the temptation to wrestle again.

In terms of whether another match is a realistic possibility, a recent report has indicated that Foley is believed to be aiming to have at least one a match in AEW. However, whether he gets cleared to compete remains to be seen. You can find more on Foley’s reported in-ring ambition here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Mick Foley’s future plans as soon as we hear more.
