Reason Behind AEW Heels’ Hiatus Currently Unclear

Tony Khan has admitted he is unsure about the current status of AEW Heels.

All Elite Wrestling has launched several initiatives over the years to strengthen its connection with fans, including AEW Heels. Introduced during the company’s early years, the programme was designed to bring female wrestling fans together, giving them a space to celebrate their shared passion for wrestling. Led by figures such as referee Aubrey Edwards, AEW Heels built a strong community through online events and in-person gatherings held around pay-per-views.

However, the programme was recently placed on hiatus without any clear explanation. Despite the lack of new events, some members also reported that they continued to be charged for their subscriptions. During the AEW Redemption Media Call, company president Tony Khan was asked about the status of AEW Heels, but admitted he was unable to provide a definitive update.

“AEW Heels started years ago as a great project for the female wrestling fans. I have not been an active participant in Heels, and I’m not sure. It’s a good question. I’ll have to ask some people on the business side. There’s so many things happening in AEW wrestling right now, and in the world of professional wrestling. So I’m not sure. I wouldn’t want to give the wrong answer. So I’d have to check and get back to you.”

Khan’s response offered little clarity on the future of AEW Heels, although he made it clear he did not want to provide inaccurate information. The programme is not the only AEW initiative to have been put on hold in recent months, with AEW Games also becoming inactive, while company-produced podcasts, including AEW Unrestricted, came to an end earlier this year.

Many fans are expecting a potential revamp of these programmes, especially following the success All Elite Wrestling has enjoyed in 2026. However, Khan’s response suggests that bringing them back may not be as straightforward as some had hoped.

Regardless, there remains a strong desire within the AEW community to see these initiatives return, as they provide fans with a closer connection to the company and its wrestlers.
