Tony Khan Updates Fans On Status Of Swerve Strickland & Adam Page

Tony Khan expects both Swerve Strickland and Adam Page to return to AEW TV soon.

All Elite Wrestling has a stacked main event scene, with Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page among the stars who have helped carry the company’s top-level division in recent years. However, both have recently had limited appearances on AEW television.

At the AEW Redemption Media Call, Tony Khan provided an update on Swerve Strickland, highlighting his announced appearance at San Diego Comic-Con and noting that he has been working on projects outside of the ring.

“I’m going to be with Swerve at the Comic-Con this weekend. I’m really looking forward to that. Swerve has been out of action since his last match and has been working on some things outside of wrestling. He’s in very good standing with AEW, and I’d be happy to answer more about it after AEW Redemption. But we’ll see Swerve certainly as part of the San Diego Comic-Con tomorrow. And as far as when you’ll see Swerve next on AEW TV, stay tuned.”

Swerve was last seen at Forbidden Door, where he lost to Will Ospreay in the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament. Meanwhile, Adam Page had been absent since Revolution in March, following his world title match defeat to MJF, which resulted in him being unable to challenge for the championship again. Page returned on AEW Collision on July 11 to announce that he would pursue other AEW titles but has not appeared on screen since.

Regarding Adam Page’s absence from this week’s television tapings, Khan suggested it would not be long before fans see “Hangman” back on screen. He also expects Page to remain focused on his goal of pursuing AEW’s other championships now that he is no longer eligible to challenge for the AEW World Championship.

“Well, I think we’ll see Hangman again very soon. We saw Hangman two weeks ago on Collision. This past week on Collision, they referenced it during some of the championship fights and the big stakes on Collision. We saw Hangman on the show last week. When’s he going to be back? I would expect him to be back soon. He had a great interview and really set the stakes for his return, which feels imminent to the ring, that he’s going to be chasing championships. He’s going to be a man of his word that he said if he didn’t regain the championship from MJF, that Hangman would not challenge for that World Championship again, and it seems that Hangman is absolutely going to live up to his word because he has told me and has also publicly told all of you he’s going to come back to AEW very soon, and to be in line to challenge for the other championships.”

This appears to confirm that neither star is sidelined, with both simply waiting for the right moment to return, especially with several championship situations currently developing in AEW. It is also reasonable to expect both to play a significant role at AEW All In: London next month, making their eventual returns something for fans to look forward to.

Another factor to consider is that AEW Grand Slam: Mexico takes place on August 5, and either star could make an appearance at the event or begin laying the groundwork for their future goals on the special television broadcast.
