Tony Schiavone Gives Positive Update On Steven Borden Post AEW All Out Scare

Tony Schiavone says Steven Borden is doing fine after his scary moment at AEW All Out.

Steven Borden’s stock has risen increasingly quickly since making his official AEW debut right before All In: London, with the company immediately pegging him as someone with a bright future. As such, he was featured in a major match at All Out as he teamed with friend and trainer Darby Allin for a big tag match against the Don Callis family. However, after attempting a jumping double clothesline with Kevin Knight, he hit his head, forcing the match to stop and Borden to be wheeled backstage.

In the latest episode of What Happened When, Tony Schiavone updated everyone on Steven’s condition.

“I talked to Steven just yesterday on the phone, and he was fine. He had no headaches. He had no dizziness. As far as a diagnosis is concerned, that has to come from our doctor because I can’t make that. But I can tell you by talking to him, he said, ‘I’m fine. Of all the years that I played football for the University of Kentucky, I never had a concussion. I never experienced anything like that.’ He was more upset that he thought that he ruined the pay-per-view by what happened. And I said, ‘No, you didn’t because we announced it and then we announced it again to the crowd. So everybody was very happy that you were okay, and that really lifted everybody’s spirits.’ So how long he’s gonna be out? I don’t know. I’m sure they have to check on him before he can get back in there. It was very scary.”

This update is incredibly welcome, because, in the confusion of the match’s ending, many weren’t sure what to make of what happened to Steven Borden. As Schiavone noted, they did update fans in the arena and those watching from home about how Steven was doing.

As for the PPV, while the incident was deflating for those in attendance, the company slowly built things back up as All Out turned into a strong show. Tonight, though, will be a different story, as they seek to honor the life of PAC, who suddenly passed away the day after competing in All Out’s opening match.
