An update as emerged from PWInsider regarding Thunder Rosa’s injury which is likely to keep her out for some time.
Last night, on the August 24 episode of Dynamite, AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa revealed that she is injured and will be stepping away from AEW. She’s been the champion since March 16 and is keeping her title through the injury but the company will be crowning an interim champion in the meantime. At All Out, either Britt Baker, Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter or Hikaru Shida will set up a unification match with Rosa down the line.
This could appear to come out of nowhere for fans with many questioning the nature of the injury. This comes at a time where rumours are flying surrounding the women on AEW’s roster, but, it seems PWInsider have cleared up the type of injury that Rosa is dealing with.
“The nature of Thunder Rosa’s injury is a disc issue in her back. We are told it was something she has been trying to work through of late. There’s no word on a timetable for her return.”
-PWInsider.
Interim titles are something AEW has typically done really well, so fans will be eager to see who steps up in Rosa’s absence.
