Netflix were said to be far from impressed by this week’s WWE RAW.

WWE’s Monday Night RAW has aired on Netflix since January last year, with the landmark deal initially hailed as a major success. However, in recent months, the company has faced growing criticism from sections of its online fanbase over perceived creative missteps and frustration with the direction of several of its top stars.

That sentiment may also be shared by Netflix, as according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, Netflix executives in attendance were left with an unfavourable impression of the show.

“Coming out of Monday Night Raw, WrestleVotes Radio is told that a number of people within WWE’s creative departments are under pressure this week. Sources say that the show carried added importance internally due to its location, as several Netflix executives were in attendance, making it somewhat of a home game for the streaming giant. One source pointed to the show’s opening segment as not a good look, citing the microphone issues and the botched Fall From Grace spot.”

Elsewhere in the report, it was noted that the Joe Hendry and Danhausen segment was said to have missed the mark, while controversial WBO welterweight champion Ryan Garcia’s involvement was reportedly viewed as both underwhelming and unnecessary given his recent remarks.

Following the negative reaction to this week’s RAW, the pressure is now on WWE’s creative team to deliver with SummerSlam this weekend in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
