It has now been revealed that WWE were possibly considering a brand new WWE Championship that was due to be created for a WrestleMania 39 Main Event.

It has been long speculated that WWE wanted The Rock for a blockbuster match against current WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns, but as any plans can change, The Rock was reportedly not going to be ablw to make it. Now, The ‘American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes is the man faced with the task of taking down Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

On today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed that in the event of Reigns vs The Rock going ahead at WrestleMania, WWE had plans to create a brand new championship, for the second night’s main event, with the likelihood that Cody Rhodes would win this title.

“If it was Roman and The Rock, they were gonna create a championship on Saturday night that Cody probably would have ended up winning.

It was Cody, Drew (McIntyre) or (Seth) Rollins that was gonna come out of that one. Because they wanna go back to two titles.”

It’s been announced that Roman Reigns will be defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against former ‘Honorary Uce’ Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber on 18th February 2023. It’s presumed, Roman Reigns will win and then go on to face Cody Rhodes, the build of which has already started with an emotional segment on RAW last night between Cody Rhodes & Paul Heyman.
