TNA Wrestling and OVW are in talks to form a working relationship.

The past several days have been turbulent for TNA Wrestling, with confirmed departures both on screen and behind the scenes leading to widespread fan speculation about what lies ahead for the promotion. Despite the recent exodus, the promotion appears to be working towards a deal that would be a potentially positive development for TNA Wrestling.

According to PWInsider, TNA Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling are working towards a partnership that would effectively see OVW serve as a developmental system for TNA Wrestling.

“TNA and Ohio Valley Wrestling are circling a working relationship, PWInsider.com can confirm. We are told the two sides are working towards an agreement that would see OVW become what would be essentially a developmental system for TNA. That agreement is set to be signed very soon.”

The report also notes that, according to sources within the Louisville-based promotion, TNA President Carlos Silva has attended a number of OVW events. However, he was absent from the promotion’s recent 1400th television episode celebration despite being expected to attend.

Ohio Valley Wrestling was founded in 1993 and is currently owned and operated by Morley Sports Management. The promotion is perhaps best remembered by fans as WWE’s primary developmental territory between 2000 and 2008, helping to develop future stars such as John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, and Brock Lesnar.

While the news appears to be a positive development for TNA Wrestling, the promotion is currently undergoing a number of changes under the leadership of Carlos Silva, with Tessa Blanchard, Myla Grace, and Steve Maclin all recently having their release requests granted by the company.

Furthermore, after reports emerged regarding Tommy Dreamer and TNA Wrestling mutually agreeing to part ways, the company’s Director of Live Events Sami Callihan also announced that he was no longer with the promotion. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the prospect of TNA Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling entering into a working relationship as soon as we hear more.
