Will Ospreay believes he’ll need to change his in-ring style in five years’ time.

After moving from junior heavyweight to heavyweight during his time with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Will Ospreay retained elements of the style that earned him the nickname ‘Aerial Assassin’ whilst adapting to his larger frame. Despite remaining one of wrestling’s most awe-inspiring performers, he has admitted that changes may be needed in the coming years.

Speaking with Baby Huey for 107.7 The Bone, Will Ospreay discussed adapting his style following his return from double fusion neck surgery and revealed that he believes he has another five years before needing to evolve his in-ring game again.

“I’m just over the moon that I had a second chance, and it’s just learning how to adapt my style to different things. I found it very easy because my muscle memory for a lot of my tricks is still there. I know it’s slightly fading a little bit, but I still think I’ve got like another five years with my natural athleticism before I have to really tone it down.”

Will Ospreay is set to face Swerve Strickland in the final of this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday, June 28. The winner will earn an AEW World Championship match against MJF at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.

Throughout the tournament, Ospreay has been training with Jon Moxley and the Death Riders, focusing on his ground game. The Englishman notably defeated Mark Davis in the second round with his new armbar finish, Death Ground.

Earlier this week, Adam Copeland named Will Ospreay as one of the AEW talents he hopes to face in singles action in the future. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Will Ospreay as soon as we hear more.
