Eric Young Released By TNA, WWE Reportedly Interested Re-Signing Him

Eric Young has left TNA Wrestling and could be WWE-bound.
In recent weeks, TNA Wrestling have seen a number of wrestlers depart the company after requesting their release, with Tessa Blanchard, Myla Grace, and Steve Maclin all leaving the promotion. That list now appears to have another addition.
TNA Wrestling have now confirmed in an official press release that former two-time TNA World Champion Eric Young has been released from the company.
“TNA Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Eric Young, effective immediately. EY has had a legendary TNA career, including twice as TNA World Champion. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Following confirmation of his TNA Wrestling departure, both False Finish and Fightful Select reported that WWE sources expect there to be interest in bringing Eric Young back to the company, although it has yet to be clarified in what capacity.
After a 12-year tenure with TNA Wrestling between 2004 and 2016, Eric Young joined WWE, initially debuting in NXT alongside Alexander Wolfe, Sawyer Fulton, and Nikki Cross as part of SAni†Y before being called up to the main roster in 2018.
The 2019 Superstar Shake-up saw Eric Young drafted to RAW as a singles competitor, although he was ultimately released the following year as part of the budget cuts stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eric Young subsequently returned to TNA, then known as Impact Wrestling, where he formed and led the Violent By Design stable. His contract expired in late 2022, with Fightful Select revealing in April 2023 that Young had re-signed with WWE in November 2022 before being released at his own request without making a television appearance.
Young has since revealed that he requested his release because he refused to work under former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. With his third spell in TNA Wrestling now over and another WWE return potentially on the horizon, a reunion with Triple H may prove more fruitful for EY.
Should Eric Young make his return to WWE, he may not be the only former TNA World Champion making the move from TNA to WWE, as Mike Santana’s deal with the company is believed to be set to expire in the coming days. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Eric Young as soon as we hear more.
