Jim Ross Calls Out Worlds Collide Event, Wishes WWE Would Promote Growth In Wrestling Industry

Jim Ross comments on WWE having Worlds End clash with AEW All Out.

With this upcoming Saturday being host to not one but two wrestling events in Chicago, people from all walks of the wrestling industry are putting things under the microscope. Arguably, the biggest analysis continues to be the counterprogramming attempt by WWE via its Worlds Collide event. The AAA, NXT, and main roster show is set for the same place and time as AEW’s All Out PPV, with it believed the company picked the Worlds Collide start time to directly clash with their counterpart. Now, an industry legend has commented on this upcoming weekend.

Speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross expressed his displeasure at WWE holding Worlds Collide at the same time as All Out, saying all companies should promote growth within the industry.

“I don’t [like this] because I know the motivation. At least in my mind’s eye, I think I know the motivation for them running an event in that city on that day at that time. Which just happens to check all of those boxes to AEW. I think everybody should promote growth in our profession. I really do, but it’s never gonna f*cking happen because too many people in the wrestling business are too ignorant to see that everybody can help each other. It’s not a matter of who’s going out of business. If their [WWE] motivation was to entertain the fans, have a big house and put on a great show, then I’m all for it. But that wasn’t the motivation. Too many coincidences. That wasn’t the motivation.”

It’s fair to say that each major company takes a different approach with regard to alliances across the wrestling world. For AEW, they’ve often relied on their partnerships with the likes of New Japan and STARDOM to showcase a wide range of talent on their shows, where Worlds Collide will promote the stars of AAA, a promotion WWE officially acquired in 2025.

On the note of WWE’s partnerships, they recently announced the field for this year’s Dusty Rhodes’ Tag Team Classic.
