Will Ospreay Would Rather Focus On AEW Than Discuss WWE

Will Ospreay knows it’s part of the gig to answer questions on WWE, though he’d rather focus on AEW.
Given the state of professional wrestling, there will always be questions to be asked about rival promotions and things that are happening outside of where one wrestler is contracted. In the case of Will Ospreay, he was sought after by WWE when his NJPW contract came up, but, in the end, he decided to go to All Elite Wrestling, eventually becoming their world champion. However, throughout his run there, he’s frequently been asked about WWE, and he’s now addressed how he feels about that.
In a chat with Brandon Kravitz, he discussed whether he was tired of being asked to talk about WWE:
“I know it’s a part of the gig. People will always ask and I can only give my opinion. I don’t really care about it. I’d rather focus on AEW and I’d rather focus on what we’re able to do here. What I believe AEW is is changing the face of professional wrestling. I love what we present. I love what we do. I love our wrestling. I love everything that we’re all about. So I couldn’t really care less about any other promotion.”
-Will Ospreay
While Ospreay says he couldn’t care about another promotion, it’s likely the line was aimed specifically at WWE, as Ospreay still has ties to other companies. For example, he remains connected to RevPro, where he wrestled a match 24 hours before his title match at AEW All In: London, and New Japan, where he was one-third of the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions up until earlier this month. In fact, recent reports have suggested others in All Elite Wrestling might head to Japan soon. You can read more about that here.
As for the rest of his statement, this lines up with what he’s said before, and what others have said about their going to AEW, with some noting they never wanted to go to WWE because it wasn’t a place where they could be themselves. New arrival Ilja Dragunov debuted at WrestleDream on Sunday, and immediately expressed how excited he was to wrestle for the first time in six months. You can check out his full comments here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Will Ospreay as soon as we hear more.
