Adam Copeland Thanks Arena México For Warm Reception At Grand Slam Mexico

Adam Copeland is grateful for the incredible experience he had in Arena Mexico last night.

AEW Dynamite went to the “Cathedral of Pro Wrestling”, for its Grand Slam: Mexico event last night, and it started off with Adam Copeland teaming up with Christian Cage and the Young Bucks to take on the Death Riders. Copeland kicked off the entrances, and Arena Mexico was more than welcoming, happily singing his theme song, much to Copeland’s visible and emotional enjoyment. To that end, he’s now thanked those in attendance for the experience.

On Instagram, Copeland addressed his Arena Mexico debut, lauding the crowd for their support.

“What. A. Night. Finally, finally after 34 years I was privileged to step into The Wrestling Cathedral. Arena Mexico. And man, Mexico you did not disappoint. I felt the vibrations in my bones when I came out. It’d been 18 years since I last performed in Mexico and to finally do it in those hallowed halls, the perfect way to cap off my love affair with Lucha Libre and Mexico. I’ll take last night to the grave with me. Gracias Mexico.”

While the night ended in a loss for Copeland’s team, it’s fair to say that the experience of performing at the venue is something he’ll remember forever. Plus, “The Rated R Superstar” will be able to tick more off his bucket list as he’ll wrestle in Wembley Stadium when he and Christian Cage face the Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Titles on August 30.

Online, AEW Grand Slam: Mexico was widely praised by fans, as they got nearly three hours of programming, with over half being in-ring wrestling. With this being the second iteration of the show, a large portion of viewers are hoping that the company’s trip to Arena Mexico becomes n established staple of their calendar, with many wondering whether the country could get a pay-per-view down the line.
